Dear Mick,
My wife has decided to take gear and my mate has said that he can put her right with a few things that she needs. I am not sure of what type of gear that she will need for her training but he seems to think that he does plus he can supply too! What should I be looking for? You see, she has only been training for a few months and she is adamant that she should go on them especially after talking to this guy. Seems a little suspicious to be honest. Any ideas as to what I can do?

Hay ‘B’, (like the pun?)
I agree and I feel that you should be suspicious on ALL counts if you are that worried mate, I would be, especially after reading between the lines of your original letter. It seems to me that this guy is all to eager to help. Could be the cash aspect, could be another. Check out ALL possibilities.
If this guy is genuine and an authority AND genuine, he should not be suggesting that your missus go on the gear after so little training under her belt. Hmnnn, I would be making sure HE is not getting HER under HIS belt. Let me know how things go pal – but I hope that all is well, really I do. If it is, try and get your missus to continue training without the use of gear for as long as she can. In the long run, it will be better for her. If she reaches a point where ALL gains have stopped, yeah OK, have a go. Let’s see what happens eh? Best of luck mate.
Dear Mick,
I do not like the normal sources of protein ie: beef, chicken, turkey, tuna etc. Can I make up the difference with amino acid tablets or some simpler way of taking it in?
C. T. Chester
Dear C.T.,
To some extent yes, but not totally. Please note this as we would have to eat hundreds of amino tablets and be wasting your money using only encapsulated amino acids. Amino tablets are no way near as good as taking real protein from natural sources. Whenever possible, always try and eat natural foods simply because of the ingredients that natural foods give you. We didn’t evolve eating amino tablets.
We evolved on eating animals and fish, nuts, fruit etc. Get my point? The body absorbs proteins best, not as single amino acids but when they are joined together in small chains called peptides like in real whole proteins. If you tried to eat 250g a day as single amino acids not peptides or proteins you would definitely get the shits big style! If I were you I would develop a taste for tuna, turkey, chicken, and eggs real fast!
Dear Mick,
I have been told that if I take more steroids I will grow faster is this the case, if so do I eat more?
Anon
Dear Anon,
Biggest mistake anyone can make. Plus IF you do not listen to this advise (or anyone else to that matter) you can claim the title of “Silliest Cunt of the Year!” Many have taken this title and actually still hold it to be honest. The trick is to take just enough and when growth does start to kick in, that is when you can level off.
Think about it, why take to much and damage your health unnecessarily, plus spend more money than you need to – now that IS being stupid. OK it may not be you in the first place but the advice that you have been given. Take THIS advice and learn from it mate.
More protein will make you grow of course, but to much will make you fat, same goes for carbs. As with the gear, work to finding a level that suits you; it will take time, but hey, no said it was easy!
Take Care Guys and God Bless.
Mick Hart.

Hi Mick, a friend of mine has given me your contact info because I have been training and competing now for 7 years and although for a women I am incredibly strong I am just not getting lean enough. I compete naturally normally but I have discovered recently that ‘naturally’ does not mean what I took it to mean!!! Hence at nearly 40 I have decided to bite the bullet and do whatever I have to do to obtain the physique I want. I am a Personal Trainer and have recently become a Manager of a well know pro-body builders gym so in terms of my training I have the support I need, however what I do need is some advice on steroids and how and what to take…please help me?
Kind regards
